Celebrating World Mental Health Day

Morison Global recognises that mental well-being is essential in our personal lives and in the workplace. Balancing work, life, and everything in between can be challenging and supporting one another has never been more important.

"Across our Association members have implemented strategies and initiatives to help prioritise mental health within their firms. From creating opportunities to connect outside of work, offering mental health services through benefits packages, and organising teambuilding activities, to simply finding time to check in with each other - it’s clear that our members are committed to fostering a healthy work-life balance.

Below is a snapshot of some of the incredible initiatives our members have introduced to support mental well-being. These examples are just a glimpse of the ongoing work happening across our community every day.

Izabela Suchomska, Partner/Nyman Libson Paul (UK)

"At Nyman Libson Paul, supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our people isn’t just a priority - it’s part of who we are. We’ve built a culture where conversations about wellbeing are open, and support is always available.

We regularly host roundtables to provide a safe space for open conversation and learning, including a dedicated session earlier this year which focused on neurodiversity. We are proud to have a trained Mental Health First Aider in the team, and every colleague has access to up to eight counselling sessions each year, plus a 24-hour helpline for those moments when life feels overwhelming.

Wellbeing goes beyond mental health too. We offer regular eye tests to protect your vision, 33 days of annual leave plus an extra family day to recharge, and a Cycle to Work scheme to keep you moving. Our flexible working options make it easier to maintain a healthy work–life balance.

At NLP, we’re committed to making sure our people feel supported, valued, and empowered—every single day"

Isabelle Strecker Hazan, Partner/Aplitec (France)

"For us at Aplitec, quality of life at work is not a slogan – it’s a conviction. We want everyone to feel they have their place, with a real role, genuine support, and flexibility, particularly through remote working.

And we go further with concrete actions: every year we take part in charity races such as Pink October, supporting the fight against cancer.

These are powerful moments that showcase our team spirit and give real meaning to our collective commitment to prioritising wellbeing".

Matty Lewis, Head of Fortus Foundation, a charity founded by UK member Fortus

Matty is Co-Founder of Menfulness, a UK based men’s social wellbeing group who - through activities and counselling - support and promote improvement in men's lives.

"World Mental Health Day is a great opportunity to remind our people how to be proactive about looking after their own mental health, and knowing how to support others.

Menfulness (a men’s social wellbeing group) has that ethic intertwined into it’s everyday offerings: through proactive events and activities, we facilitate a supportive environment where men feel validated and supported through lived experience.

The Fortus Foundation has been strategised in a way that means we can support charities like Menfulness to continue doing that amazing work, and not the needless admin through grant applications.

Both charities work with ‘people and welfare’ in its veins. So this World Mental Health Day, if you’re struggling silently, why not take that step and ask for help? Or if you think someone you know is struggling, why not ask them if they are truly okay? You could save or change a life".

Joey Chon, Supervisor Corporate Affairs/Morison LC (Malaysia)

"At Morison LC, supporting our people goes beyond the workplace. Alongside professional development, we prioritise activities that promote wellbeing, balance, and positive mental health.

Recently, we organised a Spin-Bonding Session, where colleagues came together outside of work for a fun and energising workout. It was not only a chance to focus on physical health, but also a meaningful way to strengthen connections, encourage teamwork, and recharge mentally.

By creating such opportunities, we aim to remind our staff that wellbeing matters, and that Morison LC is committed to fostering both a healthy workplace and a supportive community".

Hitomi Shima, C.P.A. A&A Partners/Tokyo, Japan

"At A&A Partners we have adopted a flex-time system without core hours, allowing each employee to work during the hours that best suit their working style. In addition, we set the interval between work shifts at 10 hours. If, for various reasons, an employee works late on the previous day, they have the right to take sufficient rest before starting work the next day.

Overtime hours are monitored, and if any issues arise, the Operations Department will conduct hearings and examine whether this interval is being properly observed. Employees who work more than 80 hours of overtime in a single month or more than 50 hours for two consecutive months are required to have a consultation with an occupational physician, receive counselling on their working style, and the physician will provide feedback to the company.

Once a year, a stress check is conducted, and employees who are found to experience high levels of stress are recommended to have a consultation with the occupational physician.

After working hours, employees have the “right to disconnect”, which clearly states that they are not required to respond to emails or phone calls, including calls from clients.

What I personally pay attention to with my team members is creating an atmosphere where they feel comfortable asking questions. Since our work is highly specialised, the skills that each staff member can apply vary depending on their experience. It is not possible to fully grasp what each team member has learned, how much knowledge they have, or what tasks they are capable of handling.

Therefore, I believe it is very important that team members have someone they can turn to when they are in difficulty. When junior members are assigned to the team, I try to ensure they feel a sense of reassurance that working together will help them grow. At the same time, I make an effort to assign them tasks that will provide the most valuable learning opportunities. By doing so, I hope my team members can enjoy their work, and that they will never feel bored, stifled, or ostracised in our team".

Evan Stephens, Partner/ Sensiba United States

"At Sensiba, our core values—Family, Community, and Firm—guide how we prioritise both work and life. We believe that maintaining a healthy work-life balance is essential, and a key aspect of that is supporting the mental well-being of our employees.

To this end, we provide access to mental health services through our comprehensive benefits package and offer regular courses aimed at addressing and improving mental health".

Marie-Margaret Prange, Partner/Calibre CPA (US)

"Calibre is dedicated to fostering a workplace that champions positive mental health, recognising that employees perform at their best when their mental, emotional, and physical well-being are supported. Our leadership is deeply committed to creating an environment where wellness is prioritised as a foundation for personal and professional success. To further support employees, Calibre offers robust Health & Wellness Benefits designed to meet a wide range of needs. TouchCare serves as a personal health assistant, providing concierge support and advocacy at no cost to employees. First Stop Health delivers virtual urgent care, primary care, and free unlimited counselling services accessible anytime via app, website, or phone, making it easy for employees to prioritize their mental and physical health. Garner Health guides employees to top-rated doctors and covers out-of-pocket medical expenses up to specified amounts when using their network, while Caravan Wellness empowers employees with a rich library of content covering fitness, nutrition, mindfulness, medical education, financial wellness, and more, available in multiple formats and languages to support overall well-being.

At the heart of Calibre’s culture is our leadership’s unwavering commitment to caring for our employees. We encourage feedback through our SPARK initiative, invest in Learning and Development opportunities, and foster a strong sense of connection through employee events and outings. Our focus on inclusivity ensures that every voice is valued. Additionally, we invest in our culture through CultureWise and our 30 Fundamentals, which we highlight and celebrate weekly, reinforcing the principles that make Calibre not only a great place to work, but a workplace where wellness and success go hand in hand".
