James Gomes

Professional role and expertise

James has over 25 years of invaluable experience and leadership within Calibre CPA Group. As managing partner, he oversees the operations and strategic direction of the firm. His focus is also on supporting the firm’s partners and staff and ensuring clients receive the highest level of service.

As an audit expert he acts as a trusted advisor to many large clients including the firm’s largest multiemployer benefit plans, international labour organisations and not-for-profits. As a lead for business development for the firm, he has helped to grow Calibre significantly over the last few years. An advocate for learning and development, he speaks regularly on technical matters at client events.

Over his career, James has been the partner in charge for human resources for the firm and has led firm’s diversity and inclusion initiative. He is a huge proponent of the Women’s Initiative Network at the firm and acts as an advocate for them to advance to leadership positions, this success is evident in the profile of Calibre’s leadership team.

As part of the North America Board James would like to assist member firms develop their business development skills, use of Artificial Intelligence and efficiencies in practice management.

Education and qualifications

James has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma, CPA in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. He is a member of the AICPA and the Greater Washington Society of CPAs and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.
