Professional role and expertise
Ashvin is a qualified accountant, professional auditor and business consultant. He has more than 38 years’ experience in audit and assurance, consulting and tax in Mauritius, Africa and Europe.
He performed several assignments, including audit of banks and financial institutions, and projects financed by World Bank, EU, UNDP and other donor agencies in Seychelles, Comoros Islands, Madagascar, Mozambique, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi and Democratic Republic of Congo. He also worked with the Restructuring Working Group of the National Resilience Fund to assist export-oriented companies in financial difficulties.
Ashvin held various positions in state-owned enterprises, such as the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, the Tourism Authority, the Tourism Employees Welfare Fund, Rose Belle Sugar Estate and was adviser at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Technology & Natural Resources and the Ministry of Tourism and Leisure.
He was a board director of Mauritius Post and Cooperative Bank Ltd, MauBank Ltd and MauBank Investment Ltd as well as Chairman of the National Transport Corporation. He was also one of the Management Committee members of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States Endowment and Trust Fund, based in Luxemburg. He was trained in Business Diplomacy and has been part of the diplomatic corps as a Counsellor in economic matters for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade.
Ashvin is currently collaborating with Belgium-based AREOPA, a global pioneer in Intellectual Capital management, to mobilise sustainable finance under the Velara project aimed at accelerating the transition of emerging economies towards a knowledge-based economy.
Morison Global
Ashvin’s firm joined Morison Global in 2008, and he was appointed as director of the regional board in 2016. He is the Chair of the Morison Global Africa Board since 2018 and Director of the International Board since 2019.
Among other achievements as chair and board member, he drafted the development plan for Africa region, has recruited several current member firms and undertook review visits on potential firms. He also represents the Africa region on the International Board.
As a member of Morison Global, Ashvin has attended and participated as speaker in conferences in Africa and other regions and has attended many international conferences since his firm joined the association.
